Evaluation Framework
Review Policy & Evidence Limitations
Our criteria for assessing generic watch tools, alongside the explicit boundaries of our specification research.
Evidence Boundary Notice
Tool evaluations on this site are derived from specification analysis, published dimensions, and mechanical design review. Micron & Escapement does not conduct physical metallurgical destruction tests, stress calibrations, or multi-year bench endurance trials. Product attributes are listed based on seller documentation.
Bench Comparison Criteria
| Tool Category | Primary Metric | Movement Hazard Assessed |
|---|---|---|
| Screwdrivers | Blade tip width (mm) & taper geometry | Burred screw slots; slipping onto bridge plating |
| Tweezers | Declared alloy grade & anti-magnetic claim | Hairspring magnetization; tip deflection under load |
| Case Openers | Pin tip profiles & adjustment rack play | Deep gouges on polished case backs from pin slip |
| Presses & Dies | Spindle alignment clearance & die thread type | Uneven crystal seating; fractured rehauts or dials |
Categorization Framework
We differentiate tools suited for introductory case adjustments from those requiring strict micro-tolerances for balance or escapement servicing. Tools with high runout or coarse declared tolerances are documented specifically for non-critical bench tasks.
